What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore-- And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

HEY ADITI, after reading the poem i just culdnt resist posting "dreams". really liked this deffered dreams.
hmmm... mayb it jst sags along, in a quiet, dark corner within, as u merge urself into situations, pushin' it aside, for fear of unfulfillment. till... one day, some condition, some situation arouses it agn.. the deep seated desire rises then, stronger n more compellin'. conversely, suppressed, it jst shrivels up... exists, but never rises beyond the level.
or mayb... im jst confusin' dreams wit desires, synonymous, or entirely diff? well dreams vary, bein' relativ to expectations...
Actually.. this is a poem i read a long time ago. It was the prologue to a book called "there are no children here" great book. Somehow the words of this poem just linger in my memory
I dont think you can defer a dream. How can someone control his/her dream, hold it back or defer it?
You cannot go to bed thinking let me delay this dream ,,.. let it comeback at later time?
Correct me if i am wrong..
You cannot defer a dream but circumstances can. I dont think we are talking about the dreams seen at night, we are talking about say a child's dream to be a pilot or a doctor. A dream of a better life or in the case of the book just simply growing up(I couldnt think of better things but u get my idea)

In that case, it totally depends on the person who defers. Some get to it and some "dream on".
